It has been announced that Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook will be the keynote speaker this coming May for the graduation ceremony at George Washington University. The president of GWU, Steven Knapp, was delighted that Cook had accepted the invitation to be their speaker this year, and feels that he will be a great inspiration and motivator for the students moving on from their education and into careers.
Cook began working for Apple Inc. in 1998 and served as the Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Operations, and Chief Operating Officer for 13 years. After the death of Steve Jobbs in August 2011, Cook took over his position and became the official Apple Inc. CEO. In addition to that, Cook is also involved on the board of directors for Nike Inc. and the National Football Foundation, and is the first openly gay CEO of a Fortune 500 company.
The technology savvy business man will be giving a commencement speech this May at George Washington University, and based on previous similar speeches he is likely to discuss how important it is to have a good intuition in the business world.
